John has a well rounded background in the building field. He has had four years of drafting and theory training. His talents include building design, architectural drafting, master carpenter, organizational and managerial skills, adept in estimating, bidding, and processing projects from start to finish. He has good people skills and high ethical standards.
In order to keep expanding his talents and skills, John has undertaken the process of earning several designations.
Certified Graduate Builder (CGB) Designation:
This is the building industry’s premier professional designation held by a select group of only 2,000 professional builders nationwide. John earned this designation by completing an intensive series of nine six-hour courses. The CGB curriculum incorporates training by leading building industry practitioners and academics on a range of topics, including business management, emerging technologies and market trends. After earning CGB credentials, program graduates are required to maintain their designation through completion of an additional six hours of training annually.
Certified Aging-In-Place (CAPS) Designation:
CAPS professionals have been taught the strategies and techniques for designing and building aesthetically enriching, barrier-free living environments. The CAPS program goes beyond design to address the codes and standards, common remodeling expenditures and projects, product ideas and resources needed to provide comprehensive and practical aging in place solutions. CAPS graduates pledge to uphold a code of ethics and are required to maintain their designation by attending continuing education programs and participating in community service.
Graduate Master Builder (GMB) Designation:
The ultimate symbol of the building professional, this designation is for experienced veterans only. This designation is awarded to those who have earned the CGB designation; completed additional coursework; and have at least five years of building experience.
There are currently 758 GMB’s in the nation, 271 in Texas alone, by far the largest of any other state.
